The properties and applications are discussed of crosslinked PE foams. In order to produce foams with fine cellular structures and a high expansion ratio, it is necessary to improve the melt viscosity in the process of foaming polyethylene. This has been achieved by the use of chemical crosslinking methods and radiation crosslinking techniques.
