Optimization of Three-Dimensional MIMO System with Vertical User Distribution

摘要

MIMO is one of the key technologies to achieve the high speeds and to serve the multimedia applications with high quality. Currently, the Telecom industry is using the two dimensional MIMO modeling techniques. This modeling is not sufficient if the distance between user terminal and base station is small. Hence, 3D model is required to optimize the efficiency of the system. A little research work is done in 3D MIMO channel modeling but variations in elevation angles were ignored. In the practical scenarios like huge crowd in multi floor buildings and uneven distribution of users will reduce the performance of MIMO in terms of SNR and gain. In these scenarios, one should also consider the elevation variations in channel modeling. In this paper, we proposed 3D MIMO system by considering vertical user distribution and defined new expression for sum rate. Sum rate performance was analyzed for multi stored building and an optimized MIMO system was proposed. This work is very useful to get the high quality services in metro areas.
