THE CRITICAL REVIEW OF STUDIES ON PRODUCTIVITY ANALYSIS OF TEXTILE SME's

Researchers and practitioners have been attempting to improve the productivity of textile manufacturing units. Textile sector is one of the most important sectors in Indian Economy. Terry towel manufacturing (Yarn dyed, on Jacquard power loom) is one of the important sector of textiles. This paper reports a critical literature review with a view to identify variables affecting productivity of textile industry in general and Terry towel manufacturing in particular. In addition to reviewed literature, some more sector specific variables have been identified by visiting/interacting with experts from terry towel manufacturing units and are reported in the paper, which will serve as an important reference for further research.
