Indian normative data of the Zuckerman Kuhlman personality questionnaire-shorter version in a police population

The Zuckerman-Kuhlman personality questionnaire (ZKPQ) is a tool designed to measure the alternative five-factor model of personality. A shorter 50-item version was developed by Aluja et al. (2006) to give a robust structure to the personality scale. There appears to be no normative data for ZKPQ-50 scale in India to date. The aim of this study was to obtain Indian normative data for the scale among police population. Findings reveal the normal distribution of the scales. The norms found were in form of means and standard deviations. There have been found many significant differences in constructs of personality traits (activity, aggression-hostility, impulsive sensation seeking, sociability and neuroticism-anxiety) with respect to socio-demographical factors. This is the first study of ZKPQ-50 in India. The paper suggests by applying these norms in Indian research, more studies can be conducted not only in police population but also in other clinical and general settings.
