Managing Information for Research: Practical Help in Researching, Writing and Designing Dissertations

When I first saw the name of this text I focused mainly on the sub-title which described the book as offering "Practical help in researching, writing and designing dissertations". My heart sank a little at the thought of yet another "statement of the bleeding obvious" as John Cleese once memorably remarked. There are so many books available to research students advising them on to how to produce the "perfect" thesis that it constantly comes as a surprise that actual theses are often quite poorly constructed when presented for examination at a viva. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when I read this text to discover that it offered a refreshingly different take on the research process which is informed by two distinct, and very relevant, perspectives.
