Handicaps, stigmatisations et victimisation des personnes à Abidjan

L'article concerne l'étude des handicaps, du processus de stigmatisation des handicapés et des victimisations subséquentes à cette stigmatisation. Elle vise un triple objectif: décrire les typologies des handicaps rencontrés, exposer les motifs de la stigmatisation et enfin déterminer si les violences subies sont fonction du degré de stigmatisation. Un questionnaire a permis d'orienter l'entretien semi-directif que nous avons eu avec les handicapés. Ils ont été rencontrés dans deux centres pour porteur de stigmates et dans les rues d'Abidjan. L'étude montre qu'il existe tout un processus de stigmatisation des handicapés qui aboutit à la victimisation de ces personnes. Les méthodes, quantitative, pour le traitement statistique, et qualitative, pour l'analyse et la signification du discours ont été utilisées. Le rejet et la frustration du comportement et de l'attitude des handicapés et les traitements se capitalisant en l'incapacité de se défaire du blocage de la stigmatisation traduisent la victimisation des handicapés stigmatisés. Ils sont donc non seulement stigmatisés, mais aussi victimes de violences en raison de leur handicap.%The article is about the study of disabilities, of the process of stigmatization of persons with disabilities and the subsequent victimization to this stigma. It has a triple objective: describe the types of disabilities encountered, expose the grounds of stigma and finally determine whether violence is a function of the degree of stigma. A questionnaire helped to guide the semi-structured interviews that we had with the disabled. They met them in two centres for bearer of stigma and in the streets of Abidjan. The study shows that there is a whole process of stigmatization of persons with disabilities which resulted in the victimization of these persons. The quantitative method was used for processing statistics, and the qualitative method for the analysis and the meaning of the speach. Rejection and frustration of the behaviour and of the attitude of the disabled and the treatments capitalizing in the inability to get rid of the blocking of the stigma reflect the victimization of persons with stigmatized disabilities. They are therefore not only stigmatized but also victims of violence because of their disabilities.
