Engineering design and composition of service-oriented applications

The emerging paradigm of service-oriented computing (SOC) introduces groundbreaking concepts that will radically change the way software applications are architected designed, and implemented. Web Services, which are at the heart of service-oriented computing, are autonomous platform-independent computational elements that can be described, published, discovered and accessed over the Internet using standard protocols. Service-oriented architecture (SOA) and Web Services provide the conceptual and technological framework for new classes of collaborative and highly agile inter-organizational business applications.
