Solving abandoned residential housing projects in Malaysia: findings from blue ocean strategy

>The issue of abandoned residential housing projects is a matter that should be given more importance in Malaysia. This research aims to identify what are the solutions from the perspective of blue ocean strategy (BOS). To achieve the goals, this research focused on reviewing relevant literature, observing the sites of abandoned housing projects, and collecting raw data from 12 cases. From the review of the literature, the interview guideline was designed to find out how the problem could be solved from BOS perspective. The case study method such as face-to-face interview was chosen to be used to collect primary data from 12 respondents. From the finding, the study revealed that the BOS four action plans: eliminate, reduce, raise and create, can be applied in overcoming the problem of abandoned residential housing projects. Therefore, the BOS framework can be adapted to protect the housing industry in Malaysia.
