Usage Comparison Between an English-Language and a French-Language E-Journal Collection in a Bilingual Canadian University

This article presents the results of a quantitative and systematic analysis comparing usage rates as well as cost between English-language e-journals and their French-language counterparts at the J.N. Desmarais Library of Laurentian University, Canada. The number of e-journals and full-text articles downloaded was tracked from 2000 to 2019. Both the English-and French-language e-journal collections exhibited similarly strong linear relationships between collection size and usage. The cost-per-articles downloaded for the English-language e-journal was greater 2.7 times greater than that of the French-language collection.
