Investors in deal-starved South-East Asia have welcomed a surge of ECM activity in the Philippines, where just last week two blocks were priced and two rights issues were announced. Conglomerate JG Summit and power generator First Gen Corp raised a combined Ps16.3bn (US$366m) from share placements, while metropolitan bank & trust and food company del monte pacific plan to raise a total of US$868m through rights offerings.
