Macquarie group has sealed the largest share placement in Australia so far this year with a finely priced A$lbn (US$675m) follow-on that analysts labelled a "surprise" capital raising. The non-underwritten deal surpassed the A$900m placement from real estate investment trust Dexus in May this year. It received strong support from institutional shareholders, according to the company.
