Macquarie shines but other Australian banks feel heat

Macquarie croup is set to beat last year's record annual earnings as profit from its capital markets-facing businesses almost doubled during the first half of its fiscal year. Macquarie upgraded its guidance for the full year, forecasting a 10% rise in annual profit. It previously said its annual earnings would be "broadly in line" with last year's record profit of A$2.56bn (US$1.85bn).
