Weak trading drags on Canada's BMO

bank of Montreal's capital markets revenues in the fourth quarter were flat from the same period a year ago amid depressed trading income, leaving it lagging rival royal bank of canada. BMO Capital Markets had revenues of C$1.13bn in the three months to the end of October, up 1% from a year ago. It said higher corporate banking revenues were offset by slightly lower advisory and underwriting revenues, and a 2% dip in trading revenues due to softer rates activity and lower new equity issuance.
