Alberta Amends Land Stewardship Act To Allow Challenges to Management Plans

The legislative assembly for the Canadian province of Alberta May 10 approved amendments to the Alberta Land Stewardship Act that will allow those affected by regional resource management plans to request a review of such plans. The changes also will allow title holders in areas covered by a management plan to apply for a variance. In addition, landowners will be able to apply for compensation if they believe they have been the subject of a compensable taking under the provisions of a regional plan.
