EU, Japan Score Win in WTO Complaint Against Ontario's Green Energy Program

A World Trade Organization dispute panel has issued a preliminary ruling backing a complaint lodged by the European Union and Japan against the Canadian province of Ontario's green energy program. The WTO panel issued a confidential interim ruling Sept. 20 finding in favor of EU and Japanese claims that provisions of Ontario's feed-in tariff (FIT) program discriminate against foreign suppliers of equipment and components for renewable energy generation facilities, according to sources following the case.
