GABON'S NEW LICENSING ROUND

Since mid-2014 with the beginning of the drop in oil prices, the oil industry and oil producing counties have been trying to figure out new ways to survive in this low-oil price environment. The unexpected fall of hydrocarbon prices has made host governments, petroleum companies, service providers and other stakeholders to redefine their strategies within the sector. In this context, some African countries have opted to launch public offers of acreage. This is the case of Gabon, which officially launched its 11th licensing round last October.
