'End Cotton Subsidies'

The Fairtrade Foundation has launched a campaign demanding the EU scrap cotton subsidies to its farmers, enabling West African cotton producing countries to compete in the global market. The foundation's Great Cotton Stitch-Up report has been published three days ahead of the announcement of European Commission proposals to reform its 50bn common agricultural policy which determines cotton subsidies.
