Manufacturer of ballistic armour Plasan and Q-Flo, a spin-out company from the University of Cambridge, are to collaborate on a joint venture to commercialise carbon nanotube technology for defence applications. Based in Israel, TorTech Nano Fibres Ltd will manufacture carbon nanotube fibre for body armour and composite armour systems for vehicles. The new material is said to be stronger than Kevlar and other ballistic fabrics, whilst remaining flexible and lightweight.
