Cotton Production Down

Wbrldwide cotton production fell by 278,000 tonnes over the past two months of the 2010/2011 season, according to cotton market analysts Cotton Outlook. In November worldwide production was at 24.78m tonnes, dropping from 25.06m tonnes last month. In China alone cotton production dropped by 200,000, from 6.4m tonnes in October to 6.2m tonnes in November. The production statistics for the 2010/2011 season are however still up on the 21.9m tonnes achieved in November last year. The only markets to see an increase in cotton production are Australia and Brazil, where production in November rose from 1,55m tonnes to 1.65m tonnes.
