Sarex has developed Careguard FF, a durable water-repellent finish, which is fluorine-free and claimed to be eco-friendly. The finish offers water repellency similar to that of Co-based fluorochemicals and is targeted for use on fabrics used in outdoor, leisure and sportswear applications, according to the company. In comparison to C8 and Co-based technologies, which consist of carbon atoms, the Careguard FF finish consists of a hydrocarbon matrix with hyper-branched polymers, says Sarex.
