Alluvial Ensuring Survival of Traditional Mineral Dredge Designs and Techniques

Alluvial Dredges Limited (ADL) celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2005. Its founding in 1935 was a joint venture between Lobnitz & Co. of Renfrew Scotland, whose first hull was laid in 1848, and Yuba Manufacturing of California (YMC). At the time, both companies were world leaders in the dredge mining design field. Shortly after the Second World War, YMC relinquished their interest in ADL, which continued to operate under the Lobnitz & Co stewardship until it was nationalized and made part of British Shipbuilders.
