Boskalis Places Order With Chinese Shipyard For Large Fallpipe Vessel

On November 15, Royal Boskalis Westminster nv placed an order with the Chinese shipyard Yantai Raffles Shipyard Limited for a 21,500-ton offshore fallpipe vessel. The order is part of the multi-year fleet expansion program at Boskalis. The ship will be completed by spring 2011, and involves an investment of approximately € 120 million. Fallpipe vessels are deployed to -position rocks for the protection and support of oil and gas pipelines on the seabed. The new ship will be capable of working at considerably larger depths than existing vessels in this sector. Boskalis already owns two similar ships - the Sandpiper and the Seahorse, with a capacity of 18,000 tons each.
