Building on open economy politics to understand the stalled EU-lndia trade negotiations

Global trade is increasingly in public debate, but we still lack an understanding of why trade negotiations fail. The authors look at the EU-India negotiation break down through the Open Economy Politics framework, but propose a revised methodology which accounts for the impact of ideas and power. The revised framework provides a new avenue for policy-makers looking to understand trade negotiations.
