Revival of China's Tourism: Developing Value Chain and Tourism Cluster

摘要

Since economic reform and openness, China has become one of the most popular destinations in the world. However, recent statistics indicate that China's tourism is facing a moderate decline in both inbound tourists and tourist spending. The existing tourism situation is largely reliant on coastal regions and municipalities. This paper analyses the geographical implications of various regions of Mainland China, and recommends value chain and three cluster models to facilitate the development of China's tourism: self-development, investment-driven and hospitality-expansion.
