There is no doubt that 2013 was a historic year for the internet, marked by the first of the new global Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) that were given the go ahead for delegation in November. We are all familiar with the current Top-Level Domains (TLDs), the portion of a domain name located to the right of the dot, such as .com or .net. The new gTLD era will see the internet grow from the existing 22 gTLDs, to approximately 1,300 different possibilities.
