摘要

The Pentagon will face fewer fiscal pressures over the next two years if the House and Senate approve a newly announced congressional budget deal, according to lawmakers and analysts. The agreement, announced Tuesday night by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA), the leaders of the House and Senate budget committees, would boost the Budget Control Act caps for both defense and non-defense discretionary spending in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 by $63 billion. The Defense Department's budget, which is a large subset of the national security category, would receive about $21 billion in relief in FY-14 and about $9 billion in FY-15. A Pentagon spokesman had no comment on the deal Wednesday morning.
