Officials: Army Moving Ahead Cautiously On Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle

The defense acquisition board is slated to consider approving the launch of the Army's Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle program on July 1, though the service is proceeding carefully and closely monitoring cost projections, according to officials with knowledge of the schedule. The AMPV program, which is intended to replace nearly 3,000 of the Army's Vietnam-era M113 infantry carriers, was initially scheduled to release a request for proposals at the end of this month, but that date slipped to July 21 pending the approval of the DAB.
