The National Cancer Institute reports that only 17.2% of thousands of liver cancer patients will live five years or more after their diagnosis due to chemo-therapy resistant cells. Reprogramming chemo-resistant stem cells not to multiply would aid patient outcomes but targeting their stem cell marker, NANOG, is difficult.
