Distillation Purification of Cerium-Group Rare-Earth Metals for Fundamental Research and Design of New Materials

摘要

Distillation purification of praseodymium and neodymium is considered. The possibility of a marked increase in the purity of these metals is demonstrated. The efficiency of the distillation process for the purification of Pr was estimated thermodynamically. The pure rare-earth metals were used in synthesizing intermetallics, which are among strongly correlated electron systems characterized by unusual physical properties.
