The last European and USA winter was extremely long and cold. The ILI (Influenza-like-illnesses) were reported to have increased by 50% in the USA during the first weeks of 2013. A growing number of consumers as well as physicians want naturally based OTC medicines for prevention and treatment of the symptoms as well as the infection. The compounds found in the Elder plant are being rediscovered and formulated into the next generation of cough, cold and flu products. Scientists have been able to identify the active compounds which make elderberries and elder flower, ideal for such formulations.
