Pasteurization based on saturated steam in vacuum (commonly called "Batch Steam Sterilization") has been used for more than 20 years in the industrial field. For Imtech, the story started in the early 90's with the Pasteurization of dried mushrooms. The main applications installed during the last 20 years were principally related to the decontamination of herbs, spices and seeds. Batch Steam Sterilization has now become a reference in these industries. The demand was first of all European and especially German. It has rapidly developed worldwide, and installations have been carried out on all continents. The last decade has witnessed a broadening interest coming from other industries. Since 2010, it is the nut growers and distributors who became interested in the Batch solutions and who allowed us to develop the adapted solutions we offer at Imtech.
