Mountain search-and-rescue teams rely heavily on two-way radios to coordinate massive operations. However, traditional communication systems are incredibly inept for such rigorous activity in extreme outdoor environments, where radios are secured with awkward harnesses and buried underneath bulky, protective layers. To cope, rescuers often put themselves at added risk by unzipping their jackets and removing their gloves.
