Application Performance: Solving Application Performance Problems A Proactive Approach

Poor application performance is a problem with which many IT departments are all too familiar. An August 2003 study by Network World and Packeteer found that more than 60% of the IT respondents had experienced significant application performance degradation -a number that climbed to nearly 85% for companies with revenues exceeding $1 billion. This problem has negative effects throughout a business, from reduced employee productivity to increased customer dissatisfaction and loss of business. It also significantly reduces IT department efficiency, as staff members are repeatedly pulled away from development projects to trou-bleshoot performance issues.
