Avaya's acquisition of Nortel's enterprise unit, which brings Avaya more sophisticated networking systems, creates almost overnight a new giant in business communications. Avaya recently laid out its road map for the combined companies, building on its Aura unified communications portfolio and focusing primarily on open standards such as SIP for integration with Nortel products.
