Chambal Crocodile Safari-Hidden Jewel

June 17 is celebrated as World Crocodile day or World Croc day.I am regular visitor to the Ranthambore National Park- famous for the tiger safari, but my latest adventure was something completely unplanned and came as very pleasant surprise.I had meticulously planned train timings for 2 night/3 days stay at Ranthambore so I could maximise tiger safaris and as luck was in store where in just the 2nd safari we had plenty of tiger sighting to satisfy and complete our trip.Now we had almost 6-8 hrs to kill on the last day with train in the evening, when our local guide Mr Pushpendra-the one who took us to the Ganech Temple (this is another story to narrate some other day)- suggested us for the Crocodile/Gharial Chambal safari which was just 45 minutes drive from the main town of Sawai Madhopur.We did enquire from couple of other sources and world assistant- Google- and decided to go for the same.Despite it being end of February, afternoon was quite hot, for the 45-50 minutes journey from Sawai Madhopur to Pali district, where this crocodile safari place was situated, the route was very dry and arid and I can't boast of anything scenic and we started to get a bit sceptical as during the entire 40 km journey, there were only 2 odd boards boasting about this safari.
