As the sun began to sink it painted the autumn sky with pleasing hues of crimson and blue. Seated on a platform bench of the lone wayside station I knew it was the end of another day, that school was over and I could now do as I pleased. Far away in the distance above the rooftops of huts and dwellings stretched the highway; it rose steadily uphill until taking a curve it disappeared beyond the fading landscape. I watched the roadway intently. Tiny carts pulled along by bulls could be seen labouring up the path. How slowly they moved up the road! It would take them ages to reach the next village, I knew.
