摘要

The Karun 3 project located in Khuzestan province, Iran, is considered to be the most important hydroelectric power project of the country. This project is the most complicated concrete dam of the country and has an important status worldwide. The underground powerhouse complex of the project is also considered as the biggest in the country. This complex includes three caverns (powerhouse cavern, transformer cavern, and inlet valve gallery) with extensive dimensions. In order to monitor and measure the underground complex behaviour, lots of instruments are used. The aim of this paper is to present an overview of the instrumentation of the underground powerhouse caverns of the Karun 3 hydroelectric power project.
