Planned development of electric power in India

摘要

Right from the very beginning of the power development under budgetary provisions of the Government in 1951, programme and funding of power development in the country was carried out under the complete Government control. With the increase in volume of the work and increasing demand of electricity for industry, irrigation, and commercial sectors the Government opened power development work to private sector in 1991 to mobilize additional funds, Legislative measures were taken to make favourable environment for such participation. Central sector, state sector and private sector, are now playing major role in development of power industry in the country.
