摘要

The photocatalytic degradation of safranine (SF) dye have was studied by a batch process using titanium oxide (TiO_2) and zihc oxide (ZnO) combined with commercial activated carbon (CAC) in the presence of UV radiation. The influence of operational parameters, such as dye concentration, amount of catalyst, contact time and pH of the solution were thus determined. The first order kinetic equation was found to be applicable in the present systems. With the experimental conditions employed, TiO_2 and ZnO alone are not efficient enough for the removal of SF dye. Sequential experiments of decolouration revealed that there is a synergistic effect when the photodegradation is carried out in presence of CAC.
