摘要

A face recognition system based on 2D DCT features and pseudo 2D Hidden Markov Models is presented. An extension of the system is capable of recognizing faces by using JPEG compressed image data. Experiments to evaluate the proposed approach are carried out on the Olivetti Research Laboratory (ORL) face database. The recognition rates are 100/100 for the uncompressed original images and 99.5/100 for JPEG compressed domain recognition. A comparison with other face recognition systems evaluated on the ORL database, shows that these are the best recognition results ever reported on this database.
