摘要

This issue of Management Mathematics contains eight research papers on the theme of mathematics in sport. They evolved from among 75 invited and contributed talks presented during the Third IMA International Conference on Mathematics in Sport in June 2011. Short articles were published in conference proceedings and authors were invited to develop their articles into substantial manuscripts, which were then fully refereed and carefully selected before publication in this special issue.
