As the school year gets under way this month, AAMI's Technology Management Council (TMC) has reached out to educators in the field to help them promote the profession and tackle a number of other important challenges that are confronting educational institutions. This summer, the TMC surveyed key educators who train biomedical equipment technicians (BMETs) and clinical engineers to identify their common concerns and what initiatives the TMC could undertake to help address their issues. According to the educators surveyed, their top challenge today continues to be the lack of public visibility of the profession and, in some cases, the difficulty in attracting and retaining students for their programs.
