摘要

A theoretical model for computer simulation of spectral distortions in Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) fiber optic systems due to Stimulated Raman Scattering (SRS) and wavelength dependent linear loss coefficient in optical fibers has been developed and suggested in this paper. The results are compared with the experimental results and are found in excellent agreement. Using this model a spectral inversion method (SIM) is devised for evaluating optical powers to be launched at different wavelength channels in WDM fiber optic systems for minimising the spectral distortions due to SRS and wavelength dependent linear loss coefficient of optical fiber. The results are compared with the already suggested linear approximation method. Some limitations of linear approximation method are removed in this spectral inversion method.
