本稿では,この点を改良し,色差信号を重畳したモノクローム画像と色情報を復元したカラー画像の双方の画質を改善する方式を提案する.%Recently, several color restoration methods have been proposed to restore a color image from a monochrome image. Generally, side information is needed to recover the color image because the color information is lost when the color image is converted to the monochrome image. Queiroz et al. proposed a method that converts an original color image into a luminance signal whose high frequency components are replaced with sub-sampled chrominance signals. However, in their method, block noise in the restored color image is yielded since they used fixed block size DCT to obtain frequency components. In this paper, we propose an improved color restoration method using variable block size which is decided based on the power of high frequency components of the chrominance signal. Simulation results show our method improves the image quality of the restored color image as well as the chrominance-embedded monochrome image.
