摘要

This paper presents a method for analyzing field-replaceable unitn(FRU) field-data to obtain accurate field-reliability estimates. Thenestimates are used to improve reliability prediction and to prioritizenthe FRU that potentially need design improvement. Application of thenmethod to a large telecommunication project reveals importantndifferences in the age-dependent reliability estimates and the predictednconstant estimate. The observed difference is used to measure thenstatistical bias due to special causes, and a correction term is addednto obtain the improved reliability prediction model. The results ofnapplying the priority scheme to FRU data are encouraging and show thenimportance of including quality-of-information in decision-making
