Availability of Career Related Information Resources and Services in Different types of Libraries in Kerala : A User Oriented Study

Career seekers need different types of information at various stages of their career search. Ax the educated unemployment is crucial in Kerala, it is the duty of the libraries being social institutions, to provide the required information to the unemployed youths in the State. The present study aims at understanding the levels of availability of career related information resources and services of university, college and public libraries in Kerala. The data were collected from 1039 career seekers in Kerala who have at least a Bachelor's degree, using questionnaires. The result of the study reveals that university libraries stand first in the provision of the resources and services required by the career seekers. As compared to university and public libraries, college libraries are poor in providing such resources/services. This calls far the attention for improving the collection and services in college libraries to satisfy the information requirements of the career seekers.
