The article 'Information flow and marketing system for flower traders of West Bengal' is a welcome contribution on trade information. LIS articles nowadays are generally confined to documents (books, journals, articles et al), internet, websites, software, and the like. This article takes us to a completely new area and enlightens us about floriculture, flower market, information flow, and so on. I have a question to ask. During Durgapuja, on the Mahashtami day 108 lotus flowers are needed. In West Bengal alone, 28000 Durgapujas are organised. In addition, Durgapujas are organised in Tripura, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, and other Indian states. If we take their numbers to be around 22000, the total number of Durgapujas in India will be around 50000. This means that in these Durgapujas around 54 lakhs lotus flowers are needed. Where these huge number of lotus flowers grow, how they are plucked (they cannot be plucked in a single day), preserved and transported.
