Leading the worldwide race to develop clean-energy technology would benefit state economies and the national economy, while helping to lessen the U.S.'s dependence on oil, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said during an address at the Montana Economic Development Summit.rnDuring his address, Chu discussed the future of energy in Montana and in the U.S., noting that renewable energy sources, including hydropower, wind, and other renewables, have great potential in creating jobs, cutting harmful emissions, and freeing the nation from dependence on fossil fuels.
