On October 23, 2019, the House Committee on Education and Labor began the first in a series of hearings titled "The Future of Work" as part of House Democrats’ effort to update existing labor laws and to propose new legislation to address changes in the workforce. The Joint Subcommittee hearing included the Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Subcommittee as well as the Workforce Protections Subcommittee.
