Sustainability of nations, communities, organizations and individuals: the role of HRD

In this editorial I will reflect on lessons learned at the 12th International HRD Conference in Europe (25-27 May 2011, Cheltenham, UK). This is not a comprehensive review of the conference. Rather, I will focus on the conference theme (sustainability and HRD) and related keynotes and presentations.
